"Biodiversity Management and Conservation" is the name of the international seminar that has been organised every year since 2007 in several European countries by the local hosting universities with the aim of creating relationships and debates between junior and senior researchers on this increasingly pressing topic. The 14th edition in 2022 was held in Serra San Bruno (Vibo Valentia, Italy) and had the specific theme 'Biodiversity and sustainability: two important keywords for the future'. On this occasion, the Guest Editors proposed to the journal to open a topical collection that would host not only some of the papers presented in that and other editions of the International Seminar, but also the works of other authors dealing with the same topics. The recurring themes of the International Seminar always include a) phytosociology; b) vegetation and habitat survey for biodiversity conservation; c) protected areas for the future of biodiversity management and conservation; d) tools and ecosystem services for biodiversity management. Other topics of interest for the topical collection include plant ecophysiology, environmental education, science teaching, and new perspectives on wild plants for medicinal and food purposes, all of which are related to the main theme of the topical collection and are part of the study of vegetation and understanding its dynamics.
